There’s nothing worse than a celebrity breakup. The tears, the anguish, the heartache… and that’s just us! We can’t imagine what the actual couples must be going through. Nonetheless, it is a sad inevitability about the showbiz world that most all of our favourite couples go the distance so here are some of the world’s biggest celebrity splits of recent times:
1. Selena Gomez and The Weeknd
Although fans of Selena Gomez and The Weeknd were pretty cut up about their split (after 10 months of dating), we’re sure that the silver lining of her getting back together with long-term love Justin Bieber softened the blow, just a bit.

2. Chris Pratt and Anna Faris
If you listened carefully on 7th August 2017, a collective weeping could probably be heard across the globe as one of Hollywood’s most loved couples, Chris Pratt and Anna Faris, announced their legal separation after 7 years together. All of the press attention and affair rumours probably didn’t help the situation but these guys have done really well to remain close with Chris penning the foreword to Faris’s most recent book, ‘Unqualified’.

3. Fergie and Josh Duhamel
Apparently Fergie and Josh Duhamel had been living apart since the beginning of 2017 but they only announced it to the world in September of that year, leaving an army of devastated fans of the couple (who had been married for 8 years) in complete and utter disbelief.

4. Jennifer Hudson and David Otunga
This split has a slightly more sinister edge with Hudson requesting a protective order due to threatening behaviour from her husband of 10 years David Otunga. Here’s hoping the pair can work out a way to be amicable for the good of their son David Daniel Otunga Jr.

5. Jennifer Lawrence and Darren Aronofsky
Although one of the more short-lived romances on this list, avid movie-lovers were upset to hear that Jennifer Lawrence and the director of her controversial movie Mother!, Darren Aronofsky were splitting after a year of dating.

6. Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor
Now this one really was upsetting: after nearly twenty years together – not to mention 2 children, 11 and 8 years-old – comedian Ben Stiller and his equally funny wife Christine Taylor decided to call it a day but are very firm in the fact they’ll remain close as a family.

7. Ewan McGregor and Eve Mavrakis
In Hollywood terms, a 22-year marriage is basically an eternity. However, 2017 saw the actual end for long-term married couple Ewan McGregor and Eve Mavrakis. Unfortunately the split came closely to rumours of a romance between Ewan and his co-star Mary Elizabeth Winstead but the less said about that the better!

8. Laurence Fishburne and Gina Torres
After starring on-screen together several times in Hannibal and Matrix Reloaded, one of our favourite long terms couples, Laurence Fishburne and Gina Torres (of Suits fame) announced their split on September 2017 after 14 years together and a daughter named Delilah.

9. Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen
After ten years of on-and-off romance, a seemingly happy marriage and a 2 year-old daughter, The OC star Rachel Bilson and Star Wars actor Hayden Christensen decided to call it quits once and for all in 2017.

After 5 years together and some very cute and quirky captions of their romance that they shared with their fans, the world was very disappointed when Girls star Lena Dunham and Bleachers guitarist Jack Antanoff announced their split in January 2018.
